Who We Are…
From the very beginning, we have known that it would take a multi-prong approach to bring an end to violence and stop another violent end.
This is why we work on different programs and partner with different agencies to address the causes of violence. We strive to prolong the lives of our youth for a better and stronger community.
Our Mission
Our heartfelt mission at Harlem Mothers & Fathers S.A.V.E. is to support families affected by violence through compassionate peer-to-peer and professional psychological support. We are dedicated to prolonging the lives of New York City's youth by preventing violence and addressing its social causes and costs. As a focused nonprofit organization, we channel our efforts into three vital areas: Activism, Education, and Victim Services. With your help, we strive to create a safer, more nurturing community for all.
Activism:
Since its founding in 2006, Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. has passionately dedicated itself to advocating for gun violence victims and their families. This grassroots movement has tirelessly organized marches, town hall meetings, and forums to raise awareness and provide support. Additionally, Harlem Mothers S.A.V.E. remains a steadfast advocate for sensible and responsible gun laws, continually striving to create a safer community for all.

Victim Services:
When a parent or family is tragically affected by gun violence, the overwhelming question often is, "What now?" Through our dedicated first responders’ services, we ensure grieving families know that we are here for them, offering unwavering support whenever they need us.
We collaborate with local, city, and state government officials and agencies, as well as community leaders and organizations, to provide comprehensive victim services to families and individuals coping with trauma caused by violence.

Education:
We firmly believe that nurturing, supporting, and educating our youth is the crucial first step in eradicating senseless peer gun violence. By providing them with a strong foundation and a sense of self-worth, we empower them to aspire to higher goals and break away from negative role models.
During the pandemic, we were fortunate to continue our work with a smaller group, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, including the “glassybaby white light fund.”
